In debt, Yumi takes up an offer to serve as a geisha with a promise of freedom once the money is repaid. But this is less a house of geishas than an extremely cruel brothel specialising in supplying western visitors with desirable tattooed playthings. Yumi’s body becomes a battleground as two rival tattoo artists become determined not to lose their spot at the top of the Shogun’s good graces.
